Melissa's Garden |
Melissas Garden (named after Melissa, pioneers Max and Anita Ammer their daughter) is a reef flat in the Fam island group with on it 3 small rock islands surrounded by an extraordinary reef garden of hard and soft corals in a rainbow of colors. The islands are undercut and mushroom shaped. The walls of the islands are carpeted with a profusion of tunicates in literally every color one can imagine plus soft corals and sea fans in all imaginable pastel colors. The reef flat itself is mainly between 6 and 8 meters so one has a lot of time to explore!

Not only the corals are remarkable but the area is also covered with fish. Between the many boulders one can find sleeping sharks and if lucky a giant Queensland Grouper. The flat also has quite a number of giant clams which are getting rare in other parts of the world and probable 100+ years old.
Photographers are advised to dive this location with at least some current running as the many soft corals are under those conditions at their best. This dive site has so many fishes that one does only need to look for a great coral composition as the fish will move in place

Melissas Garden is done as a day trip as the location is approximately 25km distance from the Kri island resorts. This trip will show you also astounding top site topography, as the Fam group is amazingly beautiful.
