Wai Island Night Dive

Jerome-juve.jpg (20161 bytes)

Wai Island is not only well worth a visit for its many Manta rays and 3 WWII fighter-aircraft wrecks, it also offers spectacular night diving.

Insiders can only navigate the secluded bay through the narrow and shallow entrance but it is worth the effort. On first impression the bay looks rather dull as one only sees sand, rubble and some sea grass. A closer look will however reveal a wealth on rare marine life forms.

On a normal dive you will find among others several kinds of octopuses, Crocodile fish, Stonefish (Estuarine & Reef), Hippocampus kuda, Devil Stingers, Sea Hares, Snake Eels, Epaulette Sharks (the newly discovered Raja Epaulette shark), Wobbegong sharks, Bobtail squid, Double ended Pipefish (an critter in the seahorse family witch clings to sea grass and has the exact same color and a body with the same with and color/texture as sea grass and seahorse like head), many uncommon kinds of Nudibranch and the list goes on………….

You will understand that under such conditions night dives can last a long time!

Divers often tell us afterwards that it was the best night dive they have ever done, so it’s kind of a MUST go location!
