BATANTA WATERFALLS GUIDED TRIP
Full
day at
Join us in our trip to visit the gorgeous Batanta Waterfalls on the island of Batanta.
Batanta island is a 45 minute boat ride away from Kri Island. Huge manta-rays are often spotted on this boat ride, occasionally also a sperm whale! We arrive in a bay near to the village of Arefi, which is the starting point of the trek to the waterfalls. After a short track trough the mangroves we arrive at the first waterfall. An easy climb brings us to the second track of the trip. A one hour walk through the river-bed takes us to the second waterfall. The waterfall is huge and the water drops down from about 30 meter. (Look at the size of the people at the base of the falls!!)
We head straight for the waterfalls, which takes about 1 hour in a steady pace. The trek is not difficult and can be done by all healthy people. When arrived at the waterfall, there is plenty of time to look around, take some pictures and take a nice cool swim and shower! The water is crystal clear and different kind of fish life is visible from the surface. Lunch will be served at the base of the waterfall, in the cool shade. When you are ready, we will backtrack to the village and have the time to take a look around and meet the local villagers.
On the way back to the resort, we stop at the idyllic island of Wai to have a refreshing coconut drink and a chat with the local villagers, who can show you how the local bamboo furniture, that is also used at our resort, is made by hand there. If you are up for it, there is time to snorkel the beautiful reefs that surround the island of Wai.
After these exciting experiences, we will return to our base camp by
speedboat late in the afternoon.
